On July 6–7, 2017, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) in cooperation with the EU Delegation to the Russian Federation and Institut Français des Relations Internationales (IFRI) held a seminar “Russia and the EU in the Greater Middle East”.

The seminar agenda covered the following issues: approaches of Russia and the EU to building security Middle East and North Africa and potential spaces for cooperation in Syria, Afghanistan, and Libya.

On July 6–7, 2017, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) in cooperation with the EU Delegation to the Russian Federation and Institut Français des Relations Internationales (IFRI) held a seminar “Russia and the EU in the Greater Middle East”.

The seminar agenda covered the following issues: approaches of Russia and the EU to building security Middle East and North Africa and potential spaces for cooperation in Syria, Afghanistan, and Libya.

The event was attended by more than 30 experts on foreign policy issues from Russia and the EU, permanent group members, and external experts.

The seminar was held within the framework of the EU–Russia experts' network aimed at strengthening the basis for a longer-term engagement between the Russian Federation and the EU.

Building on experts' meetings held in 2016, 2017 has seen the project rejuvenated in the new format, with the first meetings being held at RIAC in February; at Stefan Batory Foundationin April 2017 .The project is foreseen until the end of 2018.

The next seminar will be held in Moscow in September 2017 and will be devoted to the problems of international migration.
