The Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) and the EastWest Institute held an expert meeting with Microsoft representatives on 17 June 2015. The discussion touched upon such issues as U.S. regulatory practices in cybersecurity, the protection of critical public and private infrastructure online, the development of national strategies to counter cyber threats using the experience of the U.S. and the EU as well as opportunities for radical improvements in U.S.-Russian bilateral cooperation in cyberspace. The experts also discussed problems with further work to create a unified international code of conduct in cyberspace, including the harmonisation of national laws and issues surrounding the use of cryptocurrency.

The meeting was attended by experts invited from Microsoft Corporation: Director of Cybersecurity Policy and Strategy Angela McKay and Senior Cybersecurity Strategist Kaja Ciglic, Director of the EastWest Institute’s Moscow Centre Vladimir Ivanov as well as Russian information security experts from the Institute for U.S. and Canadian Studies, Lomonosov Moscow State University and other organisations.
