The meeting was organized by European Leadership
Network (ELN) together with the Turkish Global Relations Forum (GIFGRF). The
following issues were discussed at the meeting: new threats to security in the
Euro-Atlantic region — confrontation in cyberspace, an arms race in space, the
deployment of lethal autonomous weapons. The discussion also focused on the
principles and mechanisms for preventing a qualitative arms race in Europe,
possible areas of international cooperation in the current military-political
situation.
On April 8–9, 2019, Istanbul hosted a regular meeting of the international Task Force on Cooperation in Greater Europe.
The meeting was organized by European Leadership Network (ELN) together with the Turkish Global Relations Forum (GIFGRF). The following issues were discussed at the meeting: new threats to security in the Euro-Atlantic — confrontation in cyberspace, an arms race in space, the deployment of lethal autonomous weapons. The discussion also focused on the principles and mechanisms for preventing a qualitative arms race in Europe, possible areas of international cooperation in the current military-political situation. The discussion was attended by European politicians, security experts, former high-ranking military, and diplomats from European countries, the USA, Turkey, and Russia. Russian International Affairs Council, that has been one of the co-organizers of the Task Force since 2012, was represented at the meeting in Istanbul by Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General.
