On March 25, 2019, in Moscow, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) in cooperation with Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) held a round table "Russia and India: Global Strategy and Foreign Policy Priorities".

The opening speeches were made by Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, Denis Alipov, Deputy Director of Second Asian Department of Russian Foreign Ministry, Venkatesh Varma, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Russia, and Arvind Gupta, VIF Director.

On March 25, 2019, in Moscow, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) in cooperation with Vivekananda International Foundation (VIF) held a round table "Russia and India: Global Strategy and Foreign Policy Priorities".

The opening speeches were made by Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, Denis Alipov, Deputy Director of Second Asian Department of Russian Foreign Ministry, Venkatesh Varma, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of India to Russia, and Arvind Gupta, VIF Director.

In the course of the discussion, the sides discussed topical issues in relations between Russia and India, including political, trade, economic, and humanitarian aspects of bilateral cooperation. Russian and Indian experts presented their views on the processes of regional integration, evaluated the prospects for the development of cooperation on such issues as the situation in the Middle East and the Afghan settlement. Special attention was paid to issues of multilateral cooperation, including cooperation in the Russia-India-China format and within the framework of international organizations. During the meeting, participants offered practical recommendations for the development of Russian-Indian relations.

The speakers included: Gleb Ivashentsov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation, RIAC Vice-President; Mikhail Konarovsky, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia, RIAC Member, Leading Research Fellow, Center for East Asian and SCO Studies at MGIMO University, Moscow; Anil Wadhwa, Ambassador of India (retired), VIF Senior Research Fellow; Igor Istomin, Associate Professor, Department of Applied International Political Analysis, Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO University); Ruslan Mamedov, RIAC Program Assistant; Harinder Sekhon, Senior Fellow at the Vivekananda International Foundation; Alexey Kupriyanov, Research Fellow, RAS IMEMO. The discussion was also attended by leading experts on international affairs from MGIMO MFA, Institute of Asian and African Studies MSU, RAS Institute of Oriental Studies, the Institute of Oriental and Classical Studies at Russian State University for the Humanities, and the Higher School of Economics. The sessions were moderated by Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, Igor Denisov, Senior Research Fellow, IFES RAS and Center for East Asian and SCO Studies MGIMO, and Ksenia Kuzmina, RIAC Program Manager.

The Council and the Foundation continue to work on the second joint report on Russia-India relations.
