On August 4, 2021, the Round Table "Canada-Russia Relations: Media, Paradiplomacy and the Balance of Power" was held within the framework of the 10th World Congress of the International Council for Central and East European Studies (ICCEES 10th Congress), organized by Concordia University (Canada). During this session Natalia Viakhireva, Ph.D. in Political Science, RIAC Program Manager, made a report analyzing the development of Russia-Canada relations in 2014–2021, listing the causes of the crisis in relations, the most problematic issues for their development, and identifying the areas where interaction is possible despite the crisis state of relations.

The report was based on the scientific article "Russia-Canada Relations in the Period of Crisis, 2014–2020" by Natalia Viakhireva that appeared in April 2021 in the Canadian peer-reviewed academic journal Canadian Journal of European and Russian Studies, published by Carleton University (Canada).
