On April 22, 2014 RIAC members and experts held the second meeting with Vygaudas Usackas, Head of EU Delegation to Russia, and other members of the EU mission. Focusing on the dynamics and prospects for Ukraine crisis settlement, the participants exchanged views on the significance of the Geneva four-party statement on Ukraine, possible mechanisms and procedures for its implementation, as well as roles of the negotiating parties in the prevention of the crisis escalation.

On April 22, 2014 RIAC members and experts held the second meeting with Vygaudas Usackas, Head of EU Delegation to Russia, and other members of the EU mission.

RIAC was represented by its Director General Andrey Kortunov, Anatoly Adamishin, President of the Association for Euro-Atlantic Cooperation and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary; Vladislav Inozemtsev, Scientific Director of the Center for Post-Industrial Studies and Federal Political Council member of the Civil Force party; Nadezhda Arbatova, Section Head of Center for European Integration at the RAS Institute of World Economy and International Relations; Olga Butorina, Senior Research Fellow at the RAS Institute of Europe, professor at MGIMO University; Andrei Zagorsky, Department Head at the RAS Institute of World Economy and International Relations; Kirill Koktysh, Assistance Professor at Political Theory Department of the MGIMO-University; Valentin Kuznetsov, Vice-Admiral (Ret.); Yaroslav Lissovolik, Member of the Management Board of Deutsche Bank Russia, Chief Economist, and Head of Research Department; Sergey Utkin, RIAC expert and Managing Director of the RAS Center for Situational Analysis; and Eugeny Gavrilenkov, Managing Director and Chief Economist at Sberbank CIB investment company, Professor at Higher School of Economics.

Focusing on the dynamics and prospects for Ukraine crisis settlement, the participants exchanged views on the significance of the Geneva four-party statement on Ukraine, possible mechanisms and procedures for its implementation, as well as roles of the negotiating parties in the prevention of the crisis escalation.

Russian experts and EU diplomats discussed the situation in Ukraine regions, feasibility of democratic elections scheduled for May 25, Ukrainian socio-economic environment in the context of possible coordination of efforts for urgent financial and technical assistance, and long-term prospects for Russia-EU relationship within the current political situation.
