On November 7, 2018, Haidar Hadi, Ambassador of Iraq to Moscow, visited RIAC. Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, and Timur Makhmutov, RIAC Deputy Director of Programs, had a meeting with the Ambassador.

On November 7, 2018, Haidar Hadi, Ambassador of Iraq to Moscow, visited RIAC. Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, and Timur Makhmutov, RIAC Deputy Director of Programs, had a meeting with the Ambassador.

The following issues were discussed in the course of the meeting: security on the borders of Iraq, prospects for stabilizing the situation in Syria, opportunities for cooperation between Iraq and Russia in various areas, and the role of Iraq in relations with the countries of the Persian Gulf.

Mr. Hadi expressed interest in developing Track II ties and strengthening contacts between analytical centers of the two countries.

RIAC supports the establishment of such contacts. Given the complex and intensive dynamics of processes in the Middle East, interaction with partner organizations located in the countries of the region becomes especially valuable.
