On October 14, 2021, the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) with the Human Rights Watch (HRW) held a seminar “Possible Solutions to Humanitarian Problems in Afghanistan”. The goal of the meeting was to discuss possible ways out of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan, as well as exchange opinions on how states and non-governmental organizations can contribute to the solution of the problem. Within the framework of the seminar the state of the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan, the roots of the crisis, and possible steps to stabilizing the situation were discussed.

On the HRW side, the meeting was attended by: John Sifton, Asia Advocacy Director; Patricia Gossman, Associate Asia Director; Lou Charbonneau, UN Director at HRW; Tanya Lokshina, Associate Europe and Central Asia Director; Rachel Denber, Deputy Europe and Central Asia Director.
