On December 4, 2014, Savoy Hotel in Moscow was the venue of seminar “Eurasia from Different Angles” held by the Russian International Affairs Council and Council of Foreign and Defense Politics (CFDP). The participants discussed the new environment for the emerging Eurasian Economic Union, pointing out that in contrast to the EU and ASEAN experiences, the process is accompanied with unprecedented external pressure. Hence, it is still to be seen in what way the project will be correlated with initiatives emanating from Beijing, Washington, Seoul and Ankara.

Director of Center for Comprehensive European and International Studies Timofey Bordachev and Research Fellow Andrey Skriba, both of the Higher School of Economics, presented new CFDP report “The Choice and Challenges for Eurasian Integration,” with other Eurasia projects described by Igor Denisov, Senior Research Fellow at East Asia and SCO Studies Center of MGIMO-University, Ivan Safranchuk, Associate Professor at MGIMO-University, RIAC Member Ambassador Pyotr Stegny, and Alexander Vorontsov, Head of Korea and Mongolia Department at RAS Institute for Oriental Studies.
