On December 16, 2016 Ankara hosted international conference "Deepening Turkey-Russia relations" organized by Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) together with SAM, Center for Strategic Research of Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On December 16, 2016 Ankara hosted international conference "Deepening Turkey-Russia relations" organized by Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) together with SAM, Center for Strategic Research of Turkey's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, and Mesut Özcan, SAM's Chairman, gave a welcoming speech. The event was opened by Andrey Karlov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Turkey, and Şefik Altay, Director General of the Ministry's of Foreign Relations Bilateral relations department.

Russian and Turkish experts discussed bilateral relations' issues in settling regional and international conflicts, economic and energy cooperation as well as cultural and humanitarian aspect of the relations.

Russia was represented by RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Program Assistant Ruslan Mamedov, RAS Institute of Energy Deputy Director Vladimir Likhachev, MGIMO senior lecturer Nugyar Masumova and Dmitry Vasilyev, Russia-Turkey educational and scientific center Director at RSUH.
