On December 3, 2019, at 7:00 pm, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) conducts a public lecture together with Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF). The speaker is the former president of MSF Germany, a member of MSF International Board. The lecture will focus on security aspects of humanitarian missions in areas of military conflicts.

Dr. Tankred Stoebe joined MSF in 2002. In 2004, he became a Board member of MSF German branch, from 2007 to 2015, he was the President of MSF Germany. Dr. Stoebe worked in 19 MSF field projects. He was coordinating the fight against cholera in Yemen and South Sudan, against Ebola epidemic in Sierra Leone, provided emergency assistance to the victims of tsunami in Indonesia and the typhoon in the Philippines, worked as a doctor in the search and rescue operation in the Mediterranean Sea and in refugee camps in Iraq. In addition, Dr. Stoebe managed projects on the provision of health care in Libya and Syria in times of military conflicts.

What problems do humanitarian workers face in areas of armed conflict? Who is responsible for the security of humanitarian missions? Dr. Tankred Stoebe will address these other issues in his lecture. The meeting will be moderated by Nikita Minyailov, Candidate of Medical Science, Associate Professor at Sechenov University.
