On May 22, research-to-practice conference “Southeast Asia in 2012” was held under the auspices of the Southeast Asia, Australia and Oceania Center at RAS Institute of Oriental Studies. Moderated by RIAC expert Dmitry Mosyakov, the Conference was devoted both to regional and country-level issues with special attention to territorial disputes in the South China Sea. The subject was covered by several speakers and caused a lively debate.

On May 22, research-to-practice conference “Southeast Asia in 2012” was held under the auspices of the Southeast Asia, Australia and Oceania Center at RAS Institute of Oriental Studies.

Moderated by RIAC expert Dmitry Mosyakov, the Conference was devoted both to regional and country-level issues with special attention to territorial disputes in the South China Sea. The subject was covered by several speakers and caused a lively debate.

The orators included Keiji Ide, a Minister of Japanese Embassy in Moscow, who dwelled upon the results of Japanese Prime-Minister Shinzo Abe’s visit to Moscow and his vision of Tokyo's policies in Asia.

The Conference was attended by numerous experts from RAS Institute for Far Eastern Studies, RAS Institute for Oriental Studies, MGIMO-University, Institute of Asian and African Studies at Moscow State University, and Russian Institute for Strategic Studies. RIAC presented its analytical papers, among them report “Russia’s Guiding Landmarks in the Asia-Pacific after the APEC Summit in Vladivostok”.
