On January 27, 2012 Alexander House business center hosted the workshop organized within the framework of the RIAC project “Situation in Central Asia after the supposed coalition forces withdrawal from Afghanistan”.

Among the key issues put on the agenda were: the impact of economic and political situation in Afghanistan after the U.S. and NATO forces withdrawal on the situation in Central Asia, interests and goals of external forces in the region, economic and political risks.

On January 27, 2012 Alexander House business center hosted the workshop organized within the framework of the RIAC project “Situation in Central Asia after the supposed coalition forces withdrawal from Afghanistan”.

Among the key issues put on the agenda were: the impact of economic and political situation in Afghanistan after the U.S. and NATO forces withdrawal on the situation in Central Asia, interests and goals of external forces in the region, economic and political risks.

Russia’s strategic interests in the region as well as the issues of its cooperation with other actors were highlighted.

Upon concluding the workshop the experts elaborated draft scenarios of the situation development in the region along with proposals and recommendations on the optimal line Russia should take in this respect.
