Various aspects of Russia-Japan relations were discussed during the meeting in the context of the resignation of Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe

On February 7, 2020, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) held a round table “International Politics in East Asia and Japan. Prospects for Russia — Japan Cooperation”. The event was organized with the support of the Embassy of Japan in Russia

On January 30, 2019, the Museum of Contemporary History of Russia hosted a lecture  Russia and Japan: Eternal Peace or Eternal Uncertainty? by Vladimir Nelidov, Lecturer, Department of Asian Studies at MGIMO University, RIAC Expert.

On September 27, 2018, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) hosted a discussion on Russia–Japan cooperation in Eurasia. Timur Makhmutov, RIAC Deputy Director of Programs, chaired the meeting.

On April 27, 2018, a round table discussion "Effective Personnel Strategy in the Higher Education System: Offer and Demand" was held within the framework of the Russian-Japanese forum organized by Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

The two sides exchanged views on the current state of Russian-Japanese relations, discussed opportunities for strengthening Russia-Japan dialogue and developing promising areas of practical cooperation.

On March 15, 2018, Kansai Association of Corporate Executives delegation from Japan (Kansai Association of Corporate Executives) visited Russian International Affairs Council.

On February 19, 2018, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) held a roundtable discussion “Russia–Japan Relations in the Context of the National Security Strategies”. Mr. Yusuke Arai, Director of National Security Policy Division, Foreign Policy Bureau, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, delivered a presentation that became the subject of a vigorous debate among the participants.
