Following up the visit of the former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger to the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), Yale students majoring in Russia-US relations visited the RIAC on November 25, 2013. The special emphasis during the discussion was laid upon the following issues: perception of Russian interests in the USA and of American interests in Russia; relations within Russia-US-China triangle; influence of the Cold War legacy on the current Russia-US relations; Syrian crisis and its possible consequences for the international community.

Following up the visit of the former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger to the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), Yale students majoring in Russia-US relations visited the RIAC on November 25, 2013.

Students and PhD fellows from MGIMO-University and the Institute for US and Canadian studies as well as experts from the RIAC working group on Russia-US Relations – Gevorg Mirzayan, correspondent from the "Expert" magazine, Alexey Fenenko, leading research fellow at the Institute of international Security Problems of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Pavel Sharikov, head of the Center of Applied Studies of the Institute for US and Canadian studies, Anton Grishanov, PhD fellow at the Institute for US and Canadian studies – were invited to the meeting. RIAC was represented by Program Director Ivan Timofeev and Program Manager Natalia Evtikhevich.

The special emphasis during the discussion was laid upon the following issues: perception of Russian interests in the USA and of American interests in Russia; relations within Russia-US-China triangle; influence of the Cold War legacy on the current Russia-US relations; Syrian crisis and its possible consequences for the international community.

The RIAC believes that a dialogue between students and young specialists from the two countries is of paramount importance and permits to bring up a new generation of US and Russia experts as well as to increase the level of mutual understanding between the future researchers and leaders and establish interpersonal contacts.

In the framework of its educational activities the RIAC is trying to bring talented young people from different professional groups into the community of experts on foreign relations and to engage these young people in its global projects and initiatives.
