On June 27, 2014, the Russian International Affairs Council and the Italian Embassy in Moscow held workshop "Russia and Italy: Proposals for Development of Partnership." The Italian delegation was represented by Ambassador Cesare Ragaglini, Head of Economic and Trade Section Leonardo Bencini and First Counselor Stefano Ravagnan, as well as Marisa Florio, President of Italian-Russian Chamber of Commerce. The Russian side included Sergey Nosov, Deputy Director of Europe and America Department at Ministry for Economic Development; Nikolay Sadchikov, Managing Director of Foreign Relations Department at Vnesheconombank, Tatiana Zonova, Professor of Diplomacy Chair at MGIMO-University; Nadezhda Arbatova, Head of Section for European Political Studies at Institute of World Economy and International Relations, Vera Zabotkina, Vice-Rector on Innovative International Projects at Russian State University for the Humanities.

Having assessed the status of Russian-Italian economic cooperation and its prospects, the participants examined partnership at the civil society level, cooperation in academic and education areas, and the political component of the relationship between the two states in Ukraine context.

RIAC intends to advance interaction with Italian think tanks and plans a package of bilateral proposals for future partnership.
