On January 31, 2014 the Russian International Affairs Council held a working session "The Greater Caucasus: Security and Foreign Policy Problems " with participation of Alexander Skakov, leading research fellow and working group coordinator at the Center for Central Asian, Caucasus and Volga-Urals Regional Research at RAS Institute of Oriental Studies; Alexander Krylov, leading research fellow at RAS Institute of World Economy and International Relations; Andrey Areshev, research fellow at RAS Institute of Oriental Studies; and Andrey Sushentsov, associate professor at the Department of Applied Analysis of International Problems at MGIMO-University.

Opened by RIAC Program Director Ivan Timofeev and moderated by political scientist Sergey Markedonov, PhD in History, the session covered a wide range of problems related to security and international dynamics of the Greater Caucasus, among them Russia's interests, policies of international organizations, domestic policies of regional actors, opportunities for cooperation, etc.
The results of the meeting will be formalized as a publication on the Greater Caucasus.
