On April 5, 2012 Vladislav Inozemtsev, Board member of Russian International Affairs Council, Director of the Center for Post-Industrial Society Studies, Editor-in-chief of “Svobodnaya Mysl” (Free Thought) Journal gave a lecture to the students and faculty members of St. Petersburg State University. It was devoted to a topical and highly debated issue – “Russia in the global system of geopolitical coordinates”.

On April 5, 2012 Vladislav Inozemtsev, Board member of Russian International Affairs Council, Director of the Center for Post-Industrial Society Studies, Editor-in-chief of “Svobodnaya Mysl” (Free Thought) Journal gave a lecture to the students and faculty members of St. Petersburg State University. It was devoted to a topical and highly debated issue – “Russia in the global system of geopolitical coordinates”.

In the lecture V. Inozemtsev touched upon different aspects of Russia’s positioning in the international arena. He also gave attention to such issues as Russia’s real economic weight in the world, peculiarities of its economic specialization, political and military capability of contemporary Russia, foreign policy course currently pursued be the country, Russian interests in the post-Soviet space and its potential benefits from integration processes in the region. The expert laid special emphasis on the analysis of the international environment and a new balance of power in Europe and Asia, in particular. According to V. Inozemtsev, Russia is able to influence the alignment of forces between global centers of power however, with the current trends gaining momentum, this influence will be constrained.
