On October 23, 2014, the Russian International Affairs Council received a delegation of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) to hold an expert meeting on Russian-Chinese Relations in the Ukraine Crisis Context.
The Chinese side was represented by CPAFFC Secretary General Zhou Xinzheng, Director of CPAFFC Department for European Relations Zhao Jun, CPAFFC Council members Wu Dahui, Mo Zhaojie, Chen Bo, Chen Shijie, Kong Xiangzhi and Chan Hiu Tung, as well as Zhao Huirong of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Song Bo of the Tsinghua University and Qian Longlong and Ni Guoyuan, both CPAFFC officers.

The Russian team included key experts from RAS Institute for Far Eastern Studies, MGIMO-University, Moscow Aviation Institute, I.V.Arkhipov Foundation for Economic Cooperation in Russian-Chinese Relations, and the Institute for Russian-Chinese Strategic Interaction.
Opened by RIAC Deputy Program Director Timur Makhmutov and moderated by Deputy Director of RAS Institute for Far Eastern Studies Sergey Louzyanin, the debate focused on:
- Common threats for Russia and China.
- The role and place of information security in the world of today.
- The importance of the SCO, the Eurasian Union and the Great Silk Way project for economic development of the two countries.
- Influence of Ukraine and Hong Kong events on bilateral relations and regional environment.
Igor Alexeev, RIAC representative in China, presented a brief report as well.
Summing up the deliberations, the CPAFFC and RIAC experts confirmed their willingness to promote both teamwork of experts and Russia-China relations, and also agreed to extend their contacts.
