On May 24, 2022, the University of Milan (Italy) held an international academic conference in a hybrid format on complex cultural, geopolitical, international, and legal dimensions of the Ukrainian crisis, its origins, context, and long-term consequences.
The conference focused on the challenges of political and constitutional development of the post-Soviet states, the formation of new political cultures and national identities, the importance of the common Soviet heritage and European influence in the formation of the new statehood of the former Soviet republics, the genesis of internal and interstate conflicts in the post-Soviet space, including the current Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

The conference was attended by leading Slavists from a number of Italian universities, as well as representatives of Ukraine and Russia. Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, spoke at the session on the geopolitical consequences of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
