On March 16, 2015, the Russian International Affairs Council was approved by the Russian Science Foundation (RSF) as the operator for organizing and supporting international expertise for scientific and technical programmes and projects presented at RSF competitions.
The RIAC was established in line with Russian Presidential Order No. 59-rp dated February 2, 2010. The founders of the RIAC are the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Russia-wide public organization Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, and closed joint-stock company Interfax. The RIAC places a priority on expanding forms of international cooperation among Russian educational and research institutions, promoting international academic and educational mobility, and promoting the results of Russian research abroad.
By engaging the wider international scientific expert community with the RSF, Russia can ensure the most objective and independent expertise for projects possible, boost trust in the results of RSF competitions among the international scientific community, and enhance the RSF’s status as a world science foundation that facilitates international scientific and technical cooperation and that promotes national science and education on world markets.
