On April 3, 2018, Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, Fyodor Lukyanov, RIAC Member, Editor-in-Chief of Russia in Global Affairs magazine, and Alexander Golts, deputy editor-in-chief of the website ej.ru, Tatiana Parkhalina, RAS Institute of Scientific Information on Social Sciences Deputy Director, and Sergey Utkin, Head of Foreign and Security Policy Department of the Centre for Strategic Research, Head of Department of Strategic Assessment, RAS IMEMO Centre for Situation Analysis, had a meeting with German diplomats from the Embassy of Germany to Russia.

The following issues were discussed in the course of the meeting: recent aggravation in relations between Russia the West caused by Skripal Case and the possible impact of the current crisis on Russian-European relations in the medium term.
The sides also discussed the directions for strengthening strategic stability in Europe and restoring mechanisms for control over conventional arms and armed forces in Europe. The issue of the future of Russian-German relations in the context of the new political coalition formation in Berlin was also touched upon separately. The meeting was moderated by the Ambassador of Germany to Russia Rüdiger Freiherr von Fritsch-Seerhausen.
