On September 30, 2021, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC), Asia-Pacific Research Center at Hanyang University, Institute for Russian Studies at Hankuk University of Foreign Studies, and Korea Eurasian Policy Institute held a round table “Collaboration Between Russia and South Korea in the Light of New Northern Policy: Evaluation and Future Tasks”. The event was timed to the anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between ROK and Russian Federation.

Victoria Samsonova, Leading Research Fellow, Center for Korean Studies, RAS Institute of Far Eastern Studies; Byun Hyun-sub, Deputy Director, Strategy and Planning Team, the Presidential Committee for Northern Economic Cooperation; Irina Korgun, Senior Research Fellow, Acting Head, Center of Russian Strategy in Asia, RAS Institute of Economy, Associate Professor, School of Asian Studies, Higher School of Economics; and Sang-Joon Lee, Professor, Kookmin University, touched upon the prospects for Moscow – Seoul cooperation in such practice areas as energy, digital technologies, innovation, healthcare, infrastructure, and logistics during the second session “Emerging Areas of Cooperation between Russia and South Korea and Future Tasks of New Northern Policy”. Lee Kyu-Hyung, Chairman, Coordinating Committee of the Korea-Russia Dialogue, former South Korean Ambassador to Russia, moderated the session.
