On August 25, 2025, the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) and Beijing Club for International Dialogue organized a roundtable “China-Russia Relations: Arctic Dialogue”.

During the event, Russian and Chinese experts discussed the security challenges in the Arctic region, and exchanged views on the most promising areas of bilateral cooperation. The participants paid particular attention to the joint development of energy resources of the Arctic, as well as transport infrastructure and logistics cooperation opportunities.

On August 25, 2025, the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) and Beijing Club for International Dialogue organized a roundtable “China-Russia Relations: Arctic Dialogue”.

During the event, Russian and Chinese experts discussed the security challenges in the Arctic region, and exchanged views on the most promising areas of bilateral cooperation. The participants paid particular attention to the joint development of energy resources of the Arctic, as well as transport infrastructure and logistics cooperation opportunities.

The Russian side was represented by Ivan Timofeev, RIAC Director General, Anastasia Likhacheva, Dean of the Faculty for World Politics and World Economy at HSE University, Alexander Vylegzhanin, Head of the International Law Department at MGIMO University, RIAC Member, and Andrey Krivorotov, Leading Research Fellow, Institute of China and Contemporary Asia, Russian Academy of Sciences.

On the Chinese side, Zhao Long, Deputy Director and Senior Fellow of Institute for International Strategic and Security Studies at the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, Hong Nong, Executive Director of the Institute for China-America Studies, Zhao Huasheng, Professor of the Institute of International Studies at Fudan University, and Lu Ruquan, Dean of the Institute of Economic and Technology Research at the China National Petroleum Corporation took part in the roundtable.

Julia Melnikova, Head of RIAC Asia and Eurasia Program, and Han Hua, co-founder and Secretary-General of the Beijing Club for International Dialogue moderated the discussion.
