On April 21, 2026, the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) and the Horizon Insights Center (China) held a closed roundtable titled “Trump 2.0 and the China-Russia-U.S. Triangle.” Russian and Chinese experts analyzed the international situation ahead of Donald Trump’s visit to China and assessed the evolving dynamics within the Russia-China-U.S. triangle. Particular attention was also given to the upcoming visit of the Russian president to China.

Particular attention was also given to the upcoming visit of the Russian president to China.

The Russian perspective was presented by RIAC Director General Ivan Timofeev; RIAC Deputy Director General Dmitry Kiku; Andrey Kortunov, expert at the Valdai Discussion Club; Viktoria Zhuravleva, Deputy Director for Research at IMEMO; Dmitry Novikov, Deputy Head of the Department of International Relations at HSE University; and Konstantin Sukhoverkhov, Program Manager at RIAC.

From the Chinese side, participants included Zhu Junwei, Executive Director of Horizon Insights Center; Ouyang Xiangying and Liang Qiang, Research Fellows at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Independent Analyst Dan Haonan; and Chang Ming, Research Fellow at Horizon Insights Center.

The discussion was moderated by Independent Analyst Pyotr Kortunov. RIAC Program Assistant Anna Korzun also took part in the event.
