On April 25, 2014 RIAC and MGIMO-University held a roundtable "Prospects for Greater Europe" within the framework of the Global University Forum 2014. Opening the session, RIAC President Igor Ivanov and Director General Andrey Kortunov presented the project "A Cooperative Greater Europe by 2030" implemented by RIAC jointly with European Leadership Network (ELN), Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM) and Turkish International Strategic Research Organization (USAK).

Opening the session, RIAC President Igor Ivanov and Director General Andrey Kortunov presented the project "A Cooperative Greater Europe by 2030" implemented by RIAC jointly with European Leadership Network (ELN), Polish Institute of International Affairs (PISM) and Turkish International Strategic Research Organization (USAK).
In their welcome remarks, PISM Head of the Non-Proliferation and Arms Control Project Lukasz Kulesa, ELN Director Ian Kearns and USAK Vice President Selçuk Çolakoğlu offered their views on Ukraine events and agreed that a way out could be found only through effective dialogue involving all interested parties including Ukraine, Russia, the European Union and the United States.
The roundtable was concluded by an open discussion on the future of Greater Europe as a long-term term model for the continent's economic, political and military-strategic development. Most active in the debate were RIAC experts, among them Head of European Integration Department at MGIMO-University Nikolay Kavehsnikov, Associate Professor Pavel Kanevsky from Chair of Political Science and Sociology of Political Processes at Sociology Department of Moscow State University, Head of Section for Political Aspects of European Integration of the RAS Institute of World Economy and International Relations Sergey Utkin and Kirill Entin, Associate Professor of the Chair of International Economic Organizations and European Integration at Higher School of Economics.
The event was moderated by Dr. Ivanov who also made closing remarks stressing that in the current environment the Greater Europe project is far from superfluous. Moreover, its significance is definitely on the rise since "the Ukraine crisis is our common headache, and we should discuss it together."
