On July 2, 2015, the Russian International Affairs Council held roundtable "Prospects for Russia-Ukraine Relations" featuring presentation of RIAC's working paper "Ukrainian Challenge for Russia. Opening the event, RIAC Deputy Program Director Timur Makhmutov stressed the significance of an expert analysis for the Ukraine crisis and presented the results of RIAC's Ukraine-related project efforts. Answers to numerous questions and commentaries of the discussants were provided by the working paper team including Alexander Gushchin, Assistant Professor of Post-Soviet Abroad Chair at Russian State University for Humanities; Sergey Markedonov, Assistant Professor of Regional Studies Chair at Russian State University for Humanities; and Assistant Professor of Integration Processes Chair at MGIMO-University Anna Tsibulina.

Following the presentation, the participating top experts on Ukraine and post-Soviet space surveyed the Ukraine situation, the conflict's foreign policy context, Russia-Ukraine bilateral relationship, the conflict's economic component, as well as energy cooperation between Russia, Ukraine and the European Union.
