On November 7, 2014, Russian International Affairs Council hosted a delegation of Seoul National University to hold an expert meeting on Russian-South Korean relations and security in Northeast Asia. The South Korean team included Professor Beom Shik Shin of Seoul National University, Senior Researcher of Institute for National Security Studies Ton Chow Soo, Professor Won Yon Son of Incheon National University, and Professor Hyun Taek Kim of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. Following the opening remarks of RIAC Program Director Ivan Timofeev, the Korean guests presented a paper on strategic cooperation between Russia and Republic of Korea covering the bilateral relationship, Russia's policy in Northeast Asia and Korean Peninsula, and strategic cooperation objectives for countries of the region. Summing up, the Seoul National University representatives outlined several ideas on how to solve the above problems, while the Russian analysts commented the material, which has been made to respond to RIAC's Working Paper "Russia – Republic of Korea: Revising the Bilateral Agenda."

The Russian side included Ambassador Gleb Ivashentsov, the discussion moderator, MGIMO Professor Yuri Dubinin, Asian Energy Ring Project Manager Xenia Kushkina (Skolkovo Institute for Science and Technology), Deputy Director of RAS Institute for Oil and Gas Problems Alexey Mastepanov, Leading Researcher at Analytical Center for Energy and Security Policy Andrey Sumin (RAS Institute for Oil and Gas Problems), Chief Researcher of Center for Korean Studies Svetlana Suslina (RAS Institute for Far Eastern Studies), Head of Regional Projects Department of Russkiy Mir Foundation Georgy Toloraya, and Head of Korea and Mongolia Department at RAS Institute for Oriental Studies Alexander Vorontsov.
