On November 20, 2013 a meeting between RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov and President of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) professor Luigi Nicolais took place. Among the participants also were director of the Institute of Chemistry of Organometallic Compounds Maurizio Peruzzini and RIAC Deputy Program Director Timur Makhmutov.

On November 20, 2013 a meeting between RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov and President of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) professor Luigi Nicolais took place.

Among the participants also were director of the Institute of Chemistry of Organometallic Compounds Maurizio Peruzzini and RIAC Deputy Program Director Timur Makhmutov.

The parties discussed the possibilities of joint work in studying global challenges, means of increasing effectiveness of Russian and Italian foreign policy and improving the quality of relations between Russia and the European Union (EU) which can be to a certain extent ameliorated due to the upcoming Italian presidency in the EU Council in the second half of 2014.

The Italian guests expressed special interest in the RIAC analytical materials prepared as part of projects related to the problems of international cooperation in the Arctic and migration.

There was achieved an agreement to exchange publications on these issues. Taking into consideration the vast 90-year experience of carrying out research work of the CNR and the potential of the RIAC in analyzing global problems, the parties decided to develop their partnership.
