On May 24, 2022, Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, had a meeting with Lee Sok-bae, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Russia. The conversation focused on the prospects for a political diplomatic settlement of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the impact of the conflict on the system of international relations, as well as the foreign policy program of the new leadership of the Republic of Korea, headed by President Yoon Suk-yeol, who took office following the elections in March 2022.

Other issues included the impact of economic sanctions on the prospects for Russia-South Korea economic cooperation and the implementation of major infrastructure development projects on the Korean Peninsula.
