On March 12, Moscow hosted international high-level expert workshop "Post-2015 Development Agenda: toward a Renewed Partnership for Development" sponsored by the World Bank, United Nations Development Program and Russia's G8 Sherpa Office and attended by top officials of international organizations, ministries and agencies, Russian and foreign experts, civil society leaders and businesspersons.
The participants focused on the results of the broad debate within the UN efforts on development of the Post-2015 Development Goals, as well as on numerous issues connected to financing of sustainable development and mechanisms for building and realization of new partnerships.
The workshop covered possible recommendations for Russia’s worldwide advancement of certain global agenda priorities (health and food security, eradication of poverty, environmental protection, and risk management in relation to natural and manmade disasters, accessible energy, etc.), as well as ways for their implementation, including interaction between the UN and other international organizations, private-public partnerships, the role of civil society groups, accountability and transparency of international development data and other matters.
The first session of the workshop was moderated by RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov.
