On September 7, the Russian International Affairs Council will present working paper "Security and Cooperation in Northeast Asia" authored by Russian and South Korean experts to suggest that Moscow should dynamically join five Asian partnerships focused on energy security, nuclear power, transportation, food and international information security for creating a network of trust among the countries of the region and deeper integrate Russia in Asia-Pacific. The paper will be presented by Russian and South Korean authors and team managers Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Gleb Ivashentsov, RIAC Member, and Beom-Shik Shin, Director of Institute for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies at Seoul National University. The presentation will be followed by an expert discussion.

Security in Northeast Asia is seriously threatened by tensions in the Korean Peninsula, unsettled territorial disputes and new competition of great powers. Meanwhile, Russia is poised to advance the eastern flank of its foreign policy, among other things through regional initiatives.
