The parties discussed pressing issues of the Asia-Pacific, including security issues on the Korean peninsula, the state of territorial disputes in South Chinese Sea, prospects for integration in Asia-Pacific after Donald Trump's withdrawal from TPP, codevelopment of the Chinese Silk Road project and Eurasian Economic Union. Bilateral relations between Russia and New Zealand were also discussed.
On May 18, Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, and Anton Tsvetov, RIAC expert, met with the Ambassador of New Zealand to Russia Ian Hill and Charlie Gillard, Second Secretary of the Embassy.
