On behalf of the Russian International Affairs Council, its leadership, members and staff we would like to express our deepest condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of John Edwin Mroz, founder and CEO of the EastWest Institute (EWI).

The passing of such a prominent researcher, thought leader and peacemaker shall and will be treated with due grief and sorrow, but it is also a time to celebrate the accomplishments of John’s life and work. His efforts to contribute to the peaceful resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has not been left unnoticed and was what made him well known as a virtuous negotiator serving the cause of peace and prosperity.

By founding the East-West Institute John Mroz concentrated his good will on a mission to resolve the most threatening confrontation in the history of mankind – the Cold War. After this issue seized to exist the world hardly became a safer place – and the EWI continued the much needed work. John gathered a forward-thinking team of like-minded professionals striving to connect the world with a global conversation on crucial issues of peace and stability.

John will be missed greatly by all who care about the work he did. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and loved ones.

We will not let you down, John.
