On December 9, 2020, the International Crisis Group (ICG) held an expert discussion on the current political crisis in Ethiopia that resulted in an armed confrontation between the federal government of the country and the leadership of the northern state of Tigray.

On December 9, 2020, the International Crisis Group (ICG) held an expert discussion on the current political crisis in Ethiopia that resulted in an armed confrontation between the federal government of the country and the leadership of the northern state of Tigray.

The discussion focused on socio-economic, ethnical, and political origins of the conflict, the course of hostilities and the strategies of the parties to the conflict, possible scenarios for resolving the crisis and its significance for the future of Ethiopia. The event was attended by Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General.
