On September 22, 2016 the II International Conference “Migration Crisis: International Cooperation and National Strategies,” organized by the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) and the Russian Federation Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) started its work in Moscow. RANEPA Rector Vladimir Mau and RIAC Program Director Ivan Timofeev spoke at the opening of the Conference.
In September 22, 2016 the II International Conference “Migration Crisis: International Cooperation and National Strategies,” organized by the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) and the Russian Federation Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) started its work in Moscow. RANEPA Rector Vladimir Mau and RIAC Program Director Ivan Timofeev spoke at the opening of the Conference.
The discussion on the first day of the Conference focused on the issues of interconnection between migration and international security, of social and economic aspects of migrants’ transnational networks and diasporas’ ability to exercise influence on international politics. In a separate session, organized in partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), humanitarian aspects of the international migration were discussed.
The conference was attended by representatives of Russian ministries and agencies, leading Russian and foreign experts on migration, human capital and security, representatives of international organizations.
On September 23, the second day of the Conference, the participants will discuss practical issues of international cooperation mechanisms, involved in regulating migration processes, and the prospects for Russia’s participation in the international regulation of migration processes. A plenary session of the Conference will also take place.
