On February 10, 2014, Russian International Affairs Council held seminar "Higher Education for Greater Europe: Jean Monnet Program for Russian Universities" co-sponsored by Erasmus Plus Russian National Office and moderated by RIAC Program Director Ivan Timofeev.
In his opening remarks, RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov stressed that today educational projects on partnership and practices' exchange are obtaining special importance as they work to uphold ties between countries.
The audience was addressed by Deputy Director of International Department at Russian Ministry for Education and Science Boris Zheleznov and Richard Burger,Research & Innovation Counselor Delegation of the European Union to the Russian Federation. "Currently, education offers a most important avenue for science and academic cooperation in the overall political dialogue, if compared with other areas of international interaction," said Mr. Zheleznov.
The panel discussion listed Professor Ettore Deodato of Adam Mickiewicz University; Iwona Borkowska, expert of the ERASMUS PLUS program; Olga Oleinikova, Director of Erasmus Plus Office in Russia; Nicola Scaramuzzo, actingHead of theEU-Russian Cooperation Program; and Vera Zabotkina, Pro-Rector for Innovation Projects at Russian State University for Humanities, who focused on the Jean Monnet program, its advantages, rules and their own experiences in the program implementation.
RIAC Website Coordinator Tatiana Bogdasarove told the gathering about the Russian-Italian pilot project "Globalization 2.0: New Approaches to Research and Teaching" implemented in partnership with Venice International University and intended for exchange of practices between Russian and Italian universities in the search of novel approaches to teaching the globalization phenomenon on the basis of international, Italian and Russian experiences.
The event was followed by Mr. Burger meeting Russian entrepreneurs for discussion of cooperation between universities and businesses, as well as the EU programs for young businesspersons.
