On 26 April, 2022, the workhop “Views from Russia and Egypt on the Situation in Syria” was held in online format. The meeting was organized by the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) and the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs (ECFA). The goal of the workshop was to discuss the positions of Russia and Egypt on key Syria-related issues.

The first session was devoted to the prospects for political settlement in Syria in the context of regional and global configuration. The experts paid special attention to the impact of the conflict in Ukraine on the food security of Syria and other countries of the Middle East. During the second session, the participants discussed the humanitarian problems in Syria, as well as the ways to solve them.

On the part of the ECFA, the workshop was attended by: Ezzat Saad Al Sayed, Director, ECFA; Sayed Abo-Zayed, Ambassador (Rtd), Former Assistant Foreign Minister for Arab Affairs; Alaa El Hadidi, Ambassador (Rtd), ECFA expert; Mohamed Badr El-Din Zayed, Ambassador (Rtd), ECFA expert.
