On May 13, RIAC hosted an expert meeting on Russia-South Korea relations moderated by Head of RIAC project “Russia and Republic of Korea: an Outlook for Bilateral Relations” and Director of the Russian APEC Study Center Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Gleb Ivashentsov and opened by RIAC Deputy Program Director Timur Makhmutov.

On May 13, RIAC hosted an expert meeting on Russia-South Korea relations moderated by Head of RIAC project “Russia and Republic of Korea: an Outlook for Bilateral Relations” and Director of the Russian APEC Study Center Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Gleb Ivashentsov and opened by RIAC Deputy Program Director Timur Makhmutov.

Experts from several institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Institute for Far Eastern Studies, Institute for Oriental Studies, Institute for World Economy and International Relations, Institute for Economic Studies) working on the project discussed the following issues:

- Republic of Korea today;

- South Korea’s niche in the regional and global systems of international relations;

- American, Chinese and Japanese factors in Seoul’s foreign policy;

- Russian-Korean partnership: interests of the parties;

- Current status of South Korea – North Korea dialog: Russia’s role.

The discussion outcomes are intended for an analytical report.
