On November 21, 2019, Lotte Hotel (Moscow) hosted a bilateral round table focusing on the issues of current situation on the Korean Peninsula with the participation of diplomats and experts from South Korea and Russia.
Speakers on South Korean side included Pak Sung-Il, Director General of the Office of Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs, MFA of the Republic of Korea, and Wi Sung Lac, former Ambassador to Russia, Professor of Seoul National University. Andrey Kortunov, RIAC Director General, represented the Russian side and made a report at the round table.

The Republic of Korea was represented at the round table by the staff of the Office of Korean Peninsula Peace and Security Affairs, MFA of the Republic of Korea, as well as representatives of the Embassy of South Korea in Moscow.
The discussion touched upon such issues as the state of the US-North Korea dialog, the importance of multilateral mechanisms in achieving the goal of turning the Korean Peninsula into a nuclear-weapon-free zone, possible economic development projects on the peninsula, and prospects for bilateral cooperation between Russia and the Republic of Korea in the area of security in the Northeast Asia. The roundtable was chaired by Lee Sokbae, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Russia.
