On 8 June 2012 the Russian International Affairs Council and the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs held in Budapest the international conference “Russia and Central European Counties: New Agenda and New Institutes”. The conference became the first Council’s activity organized abroad.

On 8 June 2012 the Russian International Affairs Council and the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs held in Budapest the international conference “Russia and Central European Counties: New Agenda and New Institutes”. The conference became the first Council’s activity organized abroad.

RIAC members and experts, representatives of the Hungarian and Central European academic community, Hungarian and foreign press, representatives of the diplomatic corps, accredited in Hungary, were invited to participate in the discussion. The Russian delegation comprised A. Kortunov, RIAC Director General, I. Timofeev, RIAC Program Director, E. Kozhokin, Rector of the Academy of Labour and Social Relations, E. Kuznetsova, European Programs Director at the Centre for Post-Industrial Studies, A. Malgin, Counsellor to the Rector at MGIMO University, Editor-in-Chief of “Eastern Europe. Prospects” magazine, G. Matveev, Professor, Head of the Department of Southern and Western Slavic History at MSU, S. Utkin, Division Director at the Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IMEMO RAS), A. Tsibulina, lecturer at the Department of European Integration at MGIMO University. The experts discussed the new points of emphasis of Russia’s foreign policy, prospects of cooperation between Russia and the Visegrad Group countries, and characteristics of relations of Russia and Central European countries, Hungary included.

During the one-day expert conference a presentation of the Russian International Affairs Council was made in the hall of the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs. RIAC representatives told the conference participants about lines of the Council’s work, accomplished projects and activities planned to be held in 2012-2013.
