On February 3, 2016 members of the Valdai International Discussion Club met in Moscow with former US Secretary of State Dr. Henry Kissinger. The meeting was attended by several RIAC members, namely Chairman of the Board of Directors of ABH Holdings S.A. and member of the Board of Directors of Alfa-Bank (Russia) Petr Aven; RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov; Director of RAS Institute of Oriental Studies and RAS Corresponding Member Vitaly Naumkin; and Dmitry Peskov, Deputy Head of the RF Presidential Administration, Press Secretary of the RF President.

Other Russian participants of the meeting included Andrey Bystritsky, Chairman of the Board of the Foundation for Development and Support of the Valdai Discussion Club; Viktor Vekselberg, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Renova Group; Alexander Smirnov, Chief of the Directorate for Public Relations and Communications of the RF Presidential Administration; and Oleg Tsatsurin, Deputy Head of the Directorate for Public Relations and Communications.
Dr. Henry Kissinger was accompanied by Managing Director at consultancy firm Kissinger Associates, Inc. Thomas Graham, as well as Meredith Potter, Assistant for Dr. H. Kissinger.
The discussion at the meeting covered issues of Russian-American relations, settlement of crisis situations in the Middle East and Ukraine, migratory crisis in Europe, future trajectories of China’s development, and a new role of the media and communications in the world politics.
