On September 20, 2016 an international expert workshop “Lessons of the Ukrainian conflict: Restoration of the European Security or Revision of Its Foundations?” took place in Berlin. The expert workshop, jointly organized by the German Council on Foreign Relations (Die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Auswärtige Politik, DGAP) and the US Brookings Institute, became the latest in a series of events, held within the framework of a long-term US-European project on assessing the role of Germany in the future system of European security.

The expert workshop, jointly organized by the German Council on Foreign Relations (Die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Auswärtige Politik, DGAP) and the US Brookings Institute, became the latest in a series of events, held within the framework of a long-term US-European project on assessing the role of Germany in the future system of European security.
The event was attended by about forty experts, diplomats, government officials, representatives of international organizations and journalists from European countries and the United States. RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov delivered a report at the seminar on the short-term prospects for Russia-West relations.
