On March 31, 2014 RIAC held a presentation of a working paper "Russian-Georgian Relations: in Search of New Ways for Development", a joint product of RIAC and Georgian International Center of Conflicts and Negotiations (ICCN) that offers an analysis of the Russia-Georgia dialogue normalization process and recommendations aimed to assist building an effective framework for bilateral interaction.
The event was opened by RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov, after which ICCN Executive Director Maya Katsitadze and Program Manager Nino Kizikurashvili addressed the audience with welcome remarks.

The working paper was presented by Senior Lecturer at the Department of Applied Analysis of International Problems at MGIMO-University Andrey Sushentsov, Senior Research Associate of the Center for Research on the Caucasus and Regional Security at MGIMO-University Nikolai Silayev and Director of the Caucasus Institute for Strategic Research Mamuka Areshidze.
The presentation was followed by roundtable "A New Stage in Russian-Georgian Relations" moderated by RIAC Program Director Ivan Timofeev. The discussion focused on:
- Russian and Georgian foreign policies: coincidence and differences points.
- Regional policies of Russia and Georgia.
- Security issues in the bilateral relationship.
- Obstacles to normalization of Russian-Georgian relations.
- Promising areas for bilateral interaction.

The next day, RIAC and ICCN representatives and experts held a working meeting under project "Assistance to the Russia-Georgia Dialogue", among them Director of the Department for Problems of Ethnic Relations at the Institute for Political and Military Studies and Visiting Fellow of the Center for Strategic and International Studies Sergey Markedonov, Head of Department of Economic Policy and Public-Private Partnership at MGIMO-University Helena Zavyalova, Head of the Mediterranean and Black Sea Department at RAS Institute for European Studies Alla Yazkova, Head of Regional Problems Center at RAS Institute for U.S. and Canadian Studies Nana Gegelashvili, Director of the Caucasus Institute for Strategic Research Mamuka Areshidze, advisor to the rector of Tbilisi State University Irakliy Murtskhvaladze, lecturer at Tbilisi State University Levan Gigineishvili, Director of the Georgian Center for Population Research Irina Badurashvili, and Director of the Russian-Georgian Project in Russia Leila Machavariani.
Having discussed economic aspects of the Russia-Georgia relationship, as well as demography, migration, historical, cultural and civilizational practices of bilateral interaction, as well as security and terrorism, the sides intend to publish a collection of analytical papers in the Russian and Georgian languages.
