During its 18-month-long close engagement in Central Asian matters, RIAC has conducted a series of specialized workshops and roundtables, set up a scholarly network and is currently organizing publication of an analytical report prepared by RAS Institute for Oriental Studies. To this end, of particular importance seems the meeting between RIAC President Igor Ivanov, Director General Andrey Kortunov and Program Director Ivan Timofeyev with Bulat Sultanov, Director of Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of Kazakhstan and Viktor Temirbayev and Nurlan Al’kenov, officers of Kazakh Embassy to Moscow.

The parties have discussed bilateral relations, possible establishment of multilateral institutions and solution of common problems, with agreements reached on advancing cooperation in handling analytical, educational and foreign policy problems.
