Global Science project emerged as a means to overcome the marginal status of Russian humanities at the global knowledge market, since the shortage of foreign publications makes a key cause for rather law positions of Russian universities in the world ranking.
Russian scholars have good knowledge but lack the skills for advancing their papers in foreign English-language journals. Among the main deficiencies one may cite academic writing in accordance with foreign standards, information on available journals, command of the requirements, and organization of reviewing. The Global Science involves preparation of a scholarly paper and its subsequent advancement in a foreign (English-language) journals under the supervision of Natalie Reid, academic writing instructor.
"Publication of English-language articles in leading international editions requires a systemic change in the scholarly procedures," says program participant Alfiya Zaripova. "It means both the culture shift and changing one's attitude to the article content and structure from the scheme usual for Russian journals."
