On October 20, 2016 the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) and the Chinese Embassy in the Russian Federation held a roundtable “Realities and Prospects for Convergence of SREB and EEU. Joint efforts to establish a Big Eurasian Partnership.”

RIAC President Igor Ivanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of China to Russia Mr. Li Hui, and Director of the Integration Development Department of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Sergey Shukhno delivered welcoming remarks at the event.

The discussion was moderated by RIAC Director General Andrey Kortunov.

The participants discussed Russia’s and China’s interests in Eurasia, the essence of the Russian “Big Eurasian Partnership” initiative, as well opportunities for cooperation within the framework of the convergence of the Eurasian Economic Union and the Silk Road Economic Belt initiative.
