Project: East Asia: Russia’s Foreign Policy Priorities
This project focuses on Russia’s strategic priorities in the region and the role of the state in the economy, politics and security of East Asia. The key topics are the strengthening of trade and investment cooperation with the countries of East Asia as well as Russia’s participation in the regional organisations and integration processes in the region.
Special attention is paid to the development of the existing mechanisms for the promotion of Russia’s Bilateral Relations with Japan and South Korea. The priority area is the expert analysis of possible paths to de-escalation of the Russia-Japan territorial dispute and its influence on other aspects of bilateral relations. The emphasis is also placed on the resolution of the Korean conflict and nuclear security on the Korean peninsula.
