Project: Russia-Iran Relations on the Modern Stage
Project goals: to analyse Russia-Iran bilateral relations at the current stage: study of the dynamics of the political and economic cooperation between the two countries as well as prospects and opportunities for cooperation on the resolution of the Caspian Sea region, Central Asia, the Caucasus, the Middle East, South-Western Asia; a study of Russia’s and Iran’s interests, possible forms and areas of cooperation, and is directed towards elaboration of recommendations and measures that would take the bilateral cooperation to a more advanced level.

On June 10, 2020, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) and the Iranian Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS), with the support of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Russia, held an online closed roundtable on the bilateral agenda in the context of COVID-19 pandemic.
On October 9, 2018, delegation headed by Ali Mohaghegh, Counselor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Russia, visited Russian International Affairs Council. RIAC was represented by Timur Makhmutov, Deputy Director of Programs, and Ruslan Mamedov, Program Assistant.
Russian and Iranian experts discussed the situation in Idlib, the negotiation process for a peaceful resolution, the issues of post-war reconstruction, and scenarios for the development of the situation in Syria
