Project: Russia and Iran: Bilateral Cooperation and Regional Context
The project aims to identify the interests of Russia and Iran, exploring possible formats and areas of cooperation, as well as preparing recommendations that could bring bilateral partnership to a higher level. Following the dynamics of Russia-Iran relations, as well as prospects for their development, is also important for increasing the effectiveness of joint efforts in solving regional issues in the Middle East.
The project seeks to analyze the bilateral relations between Russia and Iran, accounting for the political and economic dynamics in the Middle East.
The project is implemented within the framework of the project direction “Regional Trends in the Middle East in the Context of Security and Development Challenges”.

On June 10, 2020, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) and the Iranian Institute for Political and International Studies (IPIS), with the support of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Russia, held an online closed roundtable on the bilateral agenda in the context of COVID-19 pandemic.
On October 9, 2018, delegation headed by Ali Mohaghegh, Counselor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Russia, visited Russian International Affairs Council. RIAC was represented by Timur Makhmutov, Deputy Director of Programs, and Ruslan Mamedov, Program Assistant.
