Project: RIAC Urban Breakfasts

Urban breakfasts Úrbi et órbi is an opportunity for students to learn more about pending issues of international relations from leading experts in this area. The name of the breakfasts refers to the times of Ancient Rome, where important announcements began with the words of Urbi et Orbi. In the same way, modern experts explain the essence of the processes taking place in the world and the role that Moscow plays in them to the residents of metropolis.

Global politics is being performed in big cities; it is no coincidence that the name of the capital is often used as a metaphor for the whole country. When they say “relations between Moscow and Washington,” everyone understands that this is not about the interaction of city halls or city parliaments. Megacities shape the world we live in, and the modern city dweller is immersed in a number of global processes, the impact of which he/she often does not fully understand.

The format of morning meetings allows participants to listen to lectures and participate in discussions before work. Breakfasts are interesting not only because of the lecture component, but also for the opportunity to address their questions to the leading international experts and talk to them in informal setting. Analytical materials published by RIAC are distributed at the events.
